| The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program is designed for students and professionals who 1)Plan to enter an American college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level 2)Need to prepare for the SAT, TOEFL, GMAT, GRE or other entrance examinations 3)Want to succeed in the university classroom with native English speakers 4)Intend to study English for their major or career.
•Students receive up to 24 hours of instruction per week in ALI or university courses, which include reading, writing, structure (grammar), listening, academic speaking, and TOEFL preparation.
•Focus courses help students develop skills in specific areas such as American studies, vocabulary development, GMAT or GRE test preparation, spreadsheets and business.
•A Language Laboratory is used for practice in pronunciation, stress and intonation, and listening comprehension with the use of audio and videotapes.
•Two ALI Computer Labs offer word processing for academic and business writing, software for grammar, reading, vocabulary, spreadsheets and presentations, plus state-of-the-art technology for TOEFL, GMAT and GRE preparation.
•Students enjoy free access to electronic mail and the Internet.
•Students may choose elective courses of personal interest, such as Idioms and Slang, Pronunciation, Vocabulary Development and Test Preparation, Technical English, Western Dance, Marketing, Computerized Graduate Test Preparation, and American Films and Music.
