| For those travelers wanting an introduction to China's rich history, inspiring landscapes and staggering pace of change - this journey offers it all. Our journey begins in the capital city of Beijing where everything seems larger than life - especially the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We then visit one of the world's greatest man made structures - the Great Wall. You will also visit the former Imperial summer residence at Chengde before taking the comfortable overnight train journey south to the city of Xian to see the unforgettable Terracotta Warriors. For a welcome change of pace and scenery away from the hectic cities we take time to look at the tiny fishing villages and lush farms on a cruise along the spectacular Li River around Yangshuo. We then fly north to the first Ming Dynasty former capital of Nanjing - a city with a rich history and plenty of monuments to its past. Suzhou is our next port of call and we visit its graceful canals and gardens which contrast with its status as an emerging Silicon Valley in China. Our final stop is Shanghai - the historic port city driving China's drive to modernity. The contrasts and intrigue of China and the Chinese are revealed in this new journey.
