Description: The MILC offers French and English intensive immersion using up-to-date course materials and computer technology. We offer an activity and excursion program, a homestay program, student residences or apartments. *** You will quickly feel at home on the LaSalle College Campus in downtown Montreal and be comfortable practising your new skills with fellow students and outside the classroom. *** OUR INTENSIVE IMMERSION COURSES *** Our intensive French or English courses provide the necessary language skills to go to community college or university. The program will prepare you too to be fully functional in a work environment where they need to use French or English. - 12 sessions per year; sessions starting at the beginning of each month. - 10 levels in French available each month. - 10 levels in English available each month. - 2 preparation levels for the English TOEFL and TOEIC exams. - 22.5 hours of classes per week for a total of 90 hours per level. - A maximum of 15 students per group. - The first day of each session is reserved for the placement test. *** OUR LEVELS *** Each course starts with an oral and written evaluation test to determine the level that best corresponds to your abilities. - The Beginner Levels (Levels 1 to 3). At these levels, students acquire the basic knowledge necessary to be functional in everyday situations. - The Intermediate Levels (Levels 4 to 7). At the intermediate levels, students add to their basic knowledge and become more confident using the foreign language. - The Advanced Levels (Levels 8 to 10). More challenging texts are introduced, and the emphasis is put on speed and comprehension. Students start to focus on such skills as taking notes, summarising, making presentations and writing essays. - The Pre-University Levels. After finishing the English program, we offer students two pre-university level courses to prepare them for the international TOEFL and TOEIC tests of English as a foreign language. *** ACTIVITIES *** Our teachers take their students out on sightseeing or recreational activities. The school organises social activities. Trips outside Montreal are available from outside service providers. *** HOMESTAY AND STUDENT RESIDENCE *** Homestay in French or English-speaking families is available for all our students. Rooms can be rented in small student residences. The school will help students find an apartment.
