| This intensive two-year M.A. in English is designed for students who wish to study Jewish education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, but are not yet fluent in Hebrew. The course of study, which focuses both on theory and practice, enables students to explore new approaches to Jewish education and culture and to develop skills and resources both in Jewish education and Jewish studies. Courses include a wide range of topics in the field of Jewish education, including the Social Sciences and Jewish Identity, the Philosophy of Jewish Education, Jewish History and Classical Literature, Contemporary Jewry, Curriculum and Instruction in Jewish Education, and Gender Studies. The program seeks to attract committed young graduate students as well as experienced teachers, school principals, informal educators and educational administrators. This program is offered in conjunction with the School of Education and the Melton Centre for Jewish Education of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. ……
The Pardes Educators Program offers students a generous stipend and leads to an M.A. in Jewish Education from the Rothberg International School in conjunction with the School of Education and the Melton Centre for Jewish Education of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a certificate of Advanced Jewish Studies from the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies. ……
Seminars and tutorials are offered by faculty of the Hebrew University in the fields of Jewish Studies, Jewish Education, Politics and Society of Israel, the Middle East, Biblical Studies and Comparative Religion. Hebrew language instruction is available at all levels, as are courses in Arabic, Yiddish, Greek, Akkadian and German. These courses are recognized by the University as equivalent to courses offered in its departmental degree programs. ……
To help each student take full advantage of the resources available at the Hebrew University, participants in the program are assigned an academic advisor, available for consultation throughout the year. Students with a sufficient command of Hebrew are encouraged to take their courses with Israelis in Hebrew in the HU Faculties. Students are expected to attain Hebrew fluency before entering the final semester of the program. ……
