| This intensive two-year M.A. is designed for students who wish to study Jewish culture and sources at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem throughout the ages, but are not yet fluent in Hebrew. Courses taught in English span the spectrum of Jewish studies and offer in-depth interdisciplinary instruction. The program is offered in conjunction with the Institute of Jewish Studies, the world's most important academic center for Jewish learning and creativity, attracting scholars from all corners of the globe, and is considered to be modern Jewry's greatest school of Jewish teaching and research. The Institute of Jewish Studies includes the departments of Bible, Talmud, Hebrew Language, Jewish Thought, Hebrew Literature, History of the Jewish People and Comparative Folklore, Yiddish, and Jewish Languages, and houses numerous major research centers. ......
Seminars and tutorials are offered by faculty of the Hebrew University in the fields of Jewish Studies, Jewish Education, Politics and Society of Israel, the Middle East, Biblical Studies and Comparative Religion. Hebrew language instruction is available at all levels, as are courses in Arabic, Yiddish, Greek, Akkadian and German. These courses are recognized by the University as equivalent to courses offered in its departmental degree programs. ......
To help each student take full advantage of the resources available at the Hebrew University, participants in the program are assigned an academic advisor, available for consultation throughout the year. Students with a sufficient command of Hebrew are encouraged to take their courses with Israelis in Hebrew in the faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students are expected to attain Hebrew fluency before entering the final semester of the program. ......
