| This intensive two-year program is designed for students who wish to study religion from a wide array of historical and cultural perspectives. Courses offer a full range of religious studies with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research methods. ……
This intensive two-year M.A. in English, offered in conjunction with the Department of Comparative Religion of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is designed for students who wish to study at the Hebrew University, but are not yet fluent in Hebrew. ……
For the past 30 years, the Department of Comparative Religion has aimed to provide graduate students with knowledge of the problems, concepts and methods of the historical and methodological study of religion, while also training them for research. Courses are offered in the general study of religion and in phenomenology, sociology, anthropology, hermeneutics, and psychology, with particular emphasis on research in classical texts in their original language. The curriculum has been developed in consultation with other University departments to promote an interdisciplinary approach to the study of religion. ……
Members of the faculty are active in both teaching and research. Research focuses on specific areas, such as early Christianity and its relationship to Judaism, the general phenomenology and structural analysis of religion; and the religions of Asia (particularly those of India, Iran and Japan). ……
To help each student take full advantage of the resources available at the Hebrew University, participants in the program are assigned an academic advisor, available for consultation throughout the year. Students with a sufficient command of Hebrew are encouraged to take their courses with Israelis in Hebrew in the faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students are expected to attain Hebrew fluency before entering the final semester of the program. ……
