Description:
| Spend an exciting year or semester as a member of a Ghanaian family, and learn about tribal culture, African history, and modern life in a developing African nation. AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs, Ghana has organized a unique program that combines school life with cultural exploration and community service. You will be placed in the next-to-last year of high school where you will study English, Ghanaian languages, math, agricultural and environmental studies, science, physical education, and life skills. You will enjoy vacations in December, at Easter, and during several Ghanaian festivals.
You'll also have free time for excursions to places of historical and cultural interest. If you love the arts, try learning traditional drumming and dancing, batik making, or another traditional craft. Volunteering at an orphanage, village, or other nongovernmental organization will give you more exposure to the people of Ghana. And, there are get-togethers organized by staff and volunteers to help AFSers get to know each other.
