Description:
| Dutch culture combines personal freedom with responsibility, so an international outlook, mature and responsible nature, and feeling of independence will serve you well as a member of your host family. You will attend either a liberal arts or a college preparatory school where core subjects include Dutch, English, science, history, social studies, cultural studies, mathematics, and physical education. You may also choose from a variety of electives ranging from psychology to law.
Sports are a big part of life here, too—there are clubs for bicycling, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and field hockey. AFS organizes a self-directed Dutch language course and several additional activities. There is also an optional short-term exchange elsewhere in the country for which the cost of transportation is the participant's responsibility.
