Description:
| Dali Chinese College is located in the beautiful historic old town of Dali, Yunnan, 400 km north-west of Kunming. Dali Chinese College was founded by Sinostudy in 2003 to give our students an opportunity to learn Chinese at a quality, foreign-managed school outside the polluted metropolitan areas of Beijing or Shanghai. Dali is one of China's two well preserved historic, walled towns (together with Pingyao in Shanxi), and lies in the beautiful scenery of Yunnan, surrounded by 4,000m high Cangshan Mountain and Erhai lake. Unlike most Chinese cities, Dali retains its original character, and with a small population of only 80,000 and strict building laws, the highest buildings in Dali still are the renowned Three Pagodas dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618 - 908 AD). As a center of classical Chinese culture, Dali attracts many foreign visitors, and amidst the beautiful architecture you will find numerous restaurants catering both Chinese and Western tastes, many with English-speaking waitresses. Yet outside the "Foreigner Street" with many Western restaurants, bars and nightlife, you will get plenty of opportunity to practise your language skills and get a feel for a very different culture!
We offer high-end Chinese language courses taught by accent-free Northern Chinese teachers, a language exchange partner program, as well as comfortable accommodation in our hotel or homestays with Chinese host families. While studying with us, our teachers and tour guides arrange group tours to show you the beauties of Southern China every weekend (you can find tour descriptions here), which is included in the total program fees. All our teachers speak perfect standard Mandarin, an important factor, as many other dialects spoken in Southern China are unintelligible for the majority of Chinese and thus practically useless to learn. A distinguishing characteristic of the Dali program are our small classes, allowing emphasis on communication at every level: all classes have a maximum of 5 students, often less. Compared to most Chinese language courses offered by Universities with classes of 25+ students and teaching in lecture-form, learning Chinese at Dali Chinese College allows you to progress much more rapidly, and should you have some problems, there will always be somebody who has the time to explain things in more detail. For those wishing to integrate a stay in Dali with their current or planned studies at other institutions, we offer HSK exam preparation. Our courses are also accredited by several major Chinese Universities, and we can issue certificates for study in the name of these institutions, which may allow you to transfer credit to your home university or college. | |
