Description:
| The Intensive Spanish Program offers students the opportunity for intensive Spanish language study at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels through the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). Language study is combined with courses taught in English in Dominican culture, Latin American and Caribbean studies, and African-American studies. In addition, you can participate in community service activities designed to give students opportunities to work with local service organizations.
Albany's summer program in the Dominican Republic is an 8-week program that allows students to take 6 credits worth of intensive Spanish language study and an additional 3 credits of coursework covering Dominican culture.
You will earn a total of nine credits of Spanish language for one semester. You will also take additional courses in Dominican society and culture taught in English, which include site visits and cover topics such as ecology, history, education, economics, geography, sociology, and psychology, all studied within the framework of the country's traditional culture. | |
