| Intercultura of Costa Rica is a school with the primary goal of teaching you the Spanish language in a warm, yet intellectually challenging environment. Intercultura is a medium sized language school, located in a renovated older home.
It has a reputation for a solid academic program combined with a relaxed, personal atmosphere. In addition, you have the opportunity to come to know Costa Rica, its traditions, and its rich natural resources. It is located in the peaceful city of Heredia, approximately 30 minutes by bus from San José. Known as the "City of Flowers," Heredia boasts a natural beauty and all the conveniences of a larger city in an environment much simpler than San José. The province of Heredia is the coffee growing capital of Costa Rica, where one sees coffee plantations lining the mountainsides and loaded oxcarts taking the beans to be sorted. In addition, Heredia's proximity to the airport, Póas, and Barva volcanoes, makes it an ideal base for your stay. Also easily accessible from the city are Costa Rica's numerous beaches, rainforests, and volcanic mountain chains -- all of which provide the ideal opportunity not only for learning the language, but also for thoroughly exploring the country's rich and varied ecosystem. There is a once monthly optional location at a beautiful beach, Sámara, located in the Guanacaste (northwest) area of the country. Costa Rica provides a safe and stable environment. The national army was abolished many years ago and the country has an extraordinarily high rate of literacy. Costa Ricans also are admired for their positive stand on protection of the environment. | |
