| This Andalusian city of 260,000 inhabitants is situated in southern Spain among the snow-covered mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the desert landscape of Tabernes, and the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol. It is also the third largest university city and exudes a lively atmosphere, from Flamenco in the streets to year-round cultural programs in: music, dance, theater, and cinema. The most distinguishing landmark is the Alhambra, one of the seven wonders of the world. The city's southern-style Spanish architecture is as heavily influenced by the Moors as its way of life is influenced by Andalusian flamenco and dance traditions.
