| SELC has a well-deserved reputation as an institution committed to excellence in ESL teaching. It has a permanent staff of highly qualified senior teachers who regularly take part in our ongoing professional development program.
The student body is made up of people from over 30 different countries: from all parts of Europe, Asia and South America. This most diverse cultural mix helps to create the college’s special atmosphere, and not only offers the chance to learn English, but also to learn about cultures from around the world.
Location
The college is situated in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, one of the city’s most popular and attractive areas. It is only minutes from public transport, excellent shopping and restaurants. It is close to many places of outstanding beauty; such as the world-famous Bondi Beach which lies just 10 minutes by bus to the east, and the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge to the west which are only 15 minutes away by train.
Facilities
The college provides a wide range of equipment and materials to cater for the needs and learning styles of its students. Facilities include 2 computer rooms, which offer free access to the Internet and Email, a library, video & DVD equipment, listening laboratories and 28 classrooms all in the one building.

§ Business English Cambridge BEC (Intermediate and Upper Intermediate to Advanced)
§ Cambridge Test Preparation (CPE / CAE / FCE / PET)
§ Conversation Extra (Pre-Intermediate level)
§ High School Preparation (Beginner to Advanced)
Students who are Intermediate and above can choose from the following elective classes which are held every Wednesday for the full day:
§ TOEIC / TOEFL Preparation
§ IELTS Preparation
§ Business and Tourism
§ Movie Making
§ Speaking and Listening
§ Australian Studies
§ Cafe English + Barista Basics
Services
SELC offers its students a range of services to help make their time here easier and more enjoyable. SELC’s National Group Tutor system provides a teacher as a point of contact for each student. A Personal and Academic Counselling service which is free for all SELC students. The Academic Counsellor helps research and choose courses and enrol students in a further study institution.
Accommodation
SELC’s Accommodation Department can arrange quality accommodation to suit students’ needs. The most popular option by far is Homestay, where students stay with specially selected Australian families located close to SELC. There are 2 types of homestay: Half Board (breakfast and dinner) and Room and Facilities. Students can also choose to stay in lodge, hostel or hotel accommodation. | |
