| The Proyecto Lingüístico Francisco Marroquín is the oldest and most prestigious of the Spanish language schools in Antigua and is the only school that also teaches Mayan languages. (Information about the Mayan projects is found under Courses.) One of the hallmarks of the quality of PLFM is that it is certified to administer a Foreign Service style examination to measure fluency levels. PLFM, a non-profit Guatemalan foundation, was founded in 1972 by linguists and indigenous Guatemalans and serves two causes: the preservation of Mayan languages and culture, and the teaching of Spanish.
Our complete immersion program offers seven hours daily of one to one instruction with only Spanish used, and optional accommodations with a Guatemalan family. You practice what you are learning in a complete Latin American cultural setting.
