Description:
| Participants will take courses at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. Kiel is a modern city of 270,000 inhabitants situated on a beautiful inlet of the Baltic Sea. It is located 60 miles north of Hamburg and 50 miles south of the Danish border. Berlin, Amsterdam, or Copenhagen are within a half day's drive from Kiel. An overnight boat trip takes you to Oslo. Many water sports are available, including sailing and windsurfing. The curriculum consists of four weeks intensive study of German language and literature. Courses are offered at all levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced, including some individual study. There are course offerings in conversation, grammar, culture, and literature. Students are in class approximately 24 hours a week. No classes are held on Fridays. An Intensive Beginning German course for students who have little or no previous German language study will be offered as a part of the Kiel Study Abroad Program.
This special intensive course will let you earn an entire year (8 semester hours) of German credit during the four week summer program. Students will be able to continue their language study on campus with Intermediate German (2010) in Fall Semester. Participants will attend classes from Monday through Thursday, and supplement their studies with weekend projects. These projects will include shopping excursions, interviews with German-speaking people and other interesting cross-cultural experiences. | |
