Description: Our school is located in a safe residential area in Shibuya and is only a ten-minute walk form the train station. It provides comfortable classrooms in 3 modern buildings with ample opportunities to meet and mix students from more than 50 countries. Our school attracts about 500 students a year and was established in 1948. It is accredited by the following: The Tokyo Metropolitan Govt., Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and is a Member of the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education. At any one time, there are typically 200-300 students enrolled, giving new students plenty of scope to find a class that suits their level. Student facilities include, a student lounge, meeting rooms, language laboratories, computer classroom with Internet and e-mail access, private study rooms, library, recording laboratory and Japanese-stay room. Supervised by a teacher on duty, students can utilize the PCs in the new specially equipped classroom to extend their Japanese learning by making use of a range of educational software tools designed by the school. Standard: 4 hours daily instruction (20 hrs/week) or Intensive: 6 hours daily instruction (30 hrs/week). In the early stages of tuition, speaking and listening skills are stressed in getting to grips with Japanese. Students move from oral comprehension and speaking through the so-called "4Qs" and multiple methods of asking and answering questions to the basics of conversation. At the same time, emphasis is placed on the importance of being able to read and write. From an early stage in the regular course, students develop the ability to read and write words with which they are already familiar. The relative importance of reading begins to rise as students are guided to focus on kanji comprehension, a critical part of more advanced study. Group instruction: max 18, normally 12 students per class. Other programs available: Executive and Diplomat Training. Culture and Calligraphy. Proficiency Certificate Preparation. University Preparation Courses available.
