Description:
| Our school is located near the old Gothic Neighborhood of "Las Ramblas" and is less than a 5-minute walk from "Plaza de Catalunya". Housed in a historic building, which is over 100 years old, the school has recently been restored and offers many modern facilities. The school offers a common room where students can meet before and after class, reading room with a well-equipped library, video library, computers and vending/café machine. The school has 18 well-equipped classrooms, all of them offering audio-visual equipment and air Conditioning. Capacity of the school is about 70 students per day.
The school is located near to a bus stop and has which has 7 bus lines that offer good transport with the most important areas of the city.
Standard: 4.5 Lessons of daily instruction (22 lessons per week) or Intensive: 6 lessons daily instruction (30 lessons per week) max 8 students per class. Eight language levels are offered. One-on-one Instruction is also available at any time. Minimum 10 hrs per week.
Most teachers have a degree in Spanish philology, History, Marketing, Tourism etc. and are specialised in the tuition of Spanish as a foreign language. The teaching method is based on 4 language skills: listening, grammar, oral and written comprehension. Great emphasis on Spanish Culture Civilization and art. Students have 2 hrs /week dedicated to special topics: history of Spain, D.E.L.E. preparation, Business/Legal Spanish, health, debates on current topics, monarchy, and bullfighting. One course book and additional materials are included. D.E.L.E - The school is comfortable with very advanced and superior levels, successfully preparing students for the Official Superior Diploma and D.E.L.E. (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language).
The school has many afternoon activities, including sports such as soccer and basketball games and visits to places of interest. The school also organizes one-day trips on the weekends every 2 weeks. Trips within 1 1/2 hours. Cost $10 to $40. Most common destinations: Buildings of Gaudí, Figueras, birthplace of Dalí; Girona, medieval architecture, intellectual history; & Monserrat, the Monestary; Beaches. Trips are made by bus with a teacher from the school as the tour leader, conducted in Spanish. Companions welcome at the same price if space available. Food/drinks not included.
Cultural activities included in program: Afternoon activities - some activities, not as many as in other locations. Sports such as soccer and basketball games. Also on the beach (volleyball, soccer). Games are at no extra charge and companions can participate. | |
