| Our school is centrally located and is housed in a large converted colonial 19th century Oaxacan estate. The schools lush gardens provide the perfect environment for study, conversation, or relax in the year-round comfort of Oaxaca's beautiful weather. Our school is located in the heart of colonial Oaxaca. The school has simple facilities, a pleasant atmosphere and offers many activities including cooking, weaving and pottery courses. The zócalo, or main square is just a short walk and has many cafes, bars and internet cafe.
Standard: 4 lessons of daily instruction (20 lessons per week), max 10 students per class. To maximize learning, instructors incorporate a wide variety of teaching techniques including films, audio-visual aids, role play, music, games, etc. Immediately following the class instruction, students will participate in a one-hour conversation class, during which students are encouraged to apply that week's grammar lessons. In the afternoon, students continue the immersion process through two-hour cultural workshops, which include regional Oaxacan cooking, backstrap loom weaving, conversation, Mexican History, salsa dancing, ceramics, and many more.
In addition to Spanish classes and workshops, students are encouraged to participate in our intercambio program. Students meet daily for one hour of conversation with local university students and professionals eager to speak Spanish with students in exchange for a chance to practice their second language. The Intercambio hour is a time for casual conversation with native speakers and is a very popular feature of the schools unique language learning program. The school offers 7 levels of classes with 12 sub-levels to ensure proper placement of each student, ranging from the absolute beginner level to the more advanced Mexican and Latin American literature class. Upon your arrival at the school on the first monday, students will be given a written and oral test.
Teachers are native speakers and university educated with years of teaching experience. Teachers are trained to present you with a class that will enhance your speaking, listening and general comprehension skills while introducing you to the richness of the Mexican culture. |
