Description: Paris, the City of Light, is one of the oldest and most fascinating cities in Europe. Artifacts from the earliest tribal settlers on the Ile de la Cité are displayed in a museum under the parterre in front of the venerable medieval cathedral of Notre Dame. Traces of the Roman Empire, the Arène de Lutèce and remains of public baths, can be seen on the Left Bank of the Seine where students, artists, writers, and tourists mingle in the charming sidewalk cafes. The group will depart from Atlanta. Students will be housed at the FIAP (Foundation Internationale d’Accueil de Paris), an international student residence in the 14th Arrondissement in Paris. Classes will be held at the FIAP, also. Classes will meet for one hour and a half, three days per week. Each academic course will carry three semester hours of credit. Students may enroll for up to 6 hours of credit during the program. Required field trips will be planned by instructors to supplement classroom instruction. In addition to the historic and artistic treasures, Paris also includes such ultra modern structures as the Pompidou Center, the Arc du Defense, and the Tour Mont Parnasse with its spectacular view of the city. Also, Paris’ many parks and green spaces offer inviting spots to rest, read, or reflect after a day of sightseeing. For a change of pace, program participants can easily make train connections for traveling to other cities in France or to adjacent countries.
