Description:
| The Irish Studies Summer School, a seven-week course for university students, has been in operation for almost two decades. The course includes six weeks at Trinity College Dublin, with an additional week at Queens University Belfast, and can be taken for 6 units of credit (when students pre-arrange with their home university). This comprehensive course in Irish Studies includes modules on Irish Literature, Theatre, History, Current Affairs, Gaelic Culture and Visual Culture. The faculty is comprised of professors from Ireland’s leading academic institutions, as well as many independent scholars and noteworthy figures. In previous years, these figures have included UN Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, Nobel Prize winner Seamus Heaney, and Oscar nominated film director Jim Sheridan.
In addition to the courses, there are many cultural evening events and historical day trips as apart of the curriculum. However, even with a full daily course schedule, there is still plenty of free time for students to travel at weekends within Ireland as well as explore their surroundings and experience life in Dublin for themselves.
Housing is either in homestay accommodation in the Dublin suburbs with all meals included, or in campus accommodation with self-catering facilities. There is also an option for airline tickets to be included in the package. Please contact us for further details.
