Description:
| Study of French language, culture and civilization. Students will take courses at the Alliance Française in Paris. The program includes three one-day excursions outsideof Paris to Giverny, Chambord,and Chartres, as well as three guided walking tours of less visited parts of Paris. Dr. Janell Watson is a professor of French in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech. She received her PhD in French from Duke University (1995), and is the author of a book and several articles on modern French literature and culture. Much of the research for these publications was completed while she lived in Paris. Her areas of expertise include the novel, museums, collecting, gender, social relations and globalization. She has experience in leading study abroad programs, as well as many years of university teaching experience. Students will share rooms with other students from our program in the FIAP Jean Monnet (best described as a cross between a hotel and a dormitory in Paris).
