Take courses on medieval or Tudor England, or both, in a program specially created for NYU by Oxford University and taught by a distinguished Oxford tutor, with several in-depth field trips and lectures organized by your faculty tour escort, Lorella Brockesby.
Medieval England (July 28-Aug. 3) concentrates on one of the most colorful periods in medieval history when chivalry and literature flourished. The course examines the relationships between king, nobility, and clergy; English victories in France; and the impact of the Black Death on society.
Tudor England (Aug. 4-10) focuses on the powerful Tudor monarchs who shaped the modern state and, in particular, the roles of Henry VIII and his daughter, Elizabeth, whose 44-year reign evoked passion and romance.
This program is only available on a noncredit basis. It is the perfect opportunity to learn about England's fascinating cultural, political, and social history.
Lorella Brocklesby (B.A.) is adjunct associate professor of humanities, NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies and has been teaching at SCPS for 17 years. She is a museum lecturer and writer on British history and architecture. She received the SCPS Award for Teaching Excellence and a fellowship from the Royal Society of Arts.
