| The Art History Department and the Office of International Education of the State University of New York at New Paltz are offering, for the 24th summer ON-SITE STUDIES IN ART HISTORY ABROAD from May 30 to June 19, 2003. This is an intensive program of art historical study which each year examines the art of a specific geographical area and limited chronological span. All lectures take place at the actual monuments.
Past topics of study have included, among others, "The Romanesque Architecture of Italy," "Ancient Roman Wall Painting: Rome, Pompeii, Herculaneum," "The Islamic Art of Southern Spain," and "The Decorative Arts of Japan: Tokyo, Kyoto." Students from across the United States and Canada have participated in past sessions of the program and have represented most branches of the State University of New York, as well as Princeton University, New York University, Georgetown University, Vassar College, University of Minnesota, University of Chicago, University of New Mexico, University of California at Berkeley, and McGill University, among others. Program participation is limited to 15 students. |
