| The Institute for Tropical Ecology and Conservation
(ITEC) is a non-profit (501c3) educational, research and conservation
organization based in Gainesville, FL, U.S.A., and in Bocas del Toro,
Republic of Panama. ITEC is involved in three academic areas, field
courses, research and conservation. ITEC field courses are three or
four weeks in duration, emphasize research concepts and methods, and
cover areas of ecology, anthropology, geology and photography. Each
ITEC field course is worth 6 credits. Courses include Rain Forest
Ecology, Coral Reef Ecology, Primate Ecology, Pre-Colombian
Archaeology, Ethnobotany, Conservation Ecology, Carbonate Geology and
Photography, among many others. ITEC also provides facilities
(housing, laboratory, library, computer room) for thesis or
non-thesis research and operates conservation programs on sea
turtles, rain forest restoration and a local environmental education.
Scholarships are available for courses and Internships and Volunteer
positions are available for ITEC conservation programs. |
