The IH World Organisation, internationally considered largest, oldest and most important independent
organisation of quality language schools, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. To mark this
special occasion and the success of Valladolid's previous summer Spanish program, the Spanish
Department has been expanded, and now stands as the only internationally recognised private Spanish
Language school in the city, offering the possibity to enter classes any Monday throughout the year.
VALLADOLID
You donšt know where Valladolid is? It is less than a two-hour drive, north-west, from Madrid and
less than an hour north of Salamanca. Once capital of Spain, and famed for having the best spoken
Spanish in the world, this city of about a half-million inhabitants is filled with history and
tradition, as well as being on the cutting edge of technology and
modernization. In the old part of town you can find the university, the second oldest in Spain, the
house where Cervantes wrote Don Quijote, the house where Columbus lived until his death, and
underground bars and restaurants that date back to the Sixth Century. Just ten minutes by bus from
the historic Main Square is the new Main Square of Parquesol, location
of IH Valladolid, surrounded by parks, modern well-constructed buildings and a crime-free lively
environment.
HOUSING AND FAMILIES
All of the homes are meticulously inspected to make sure they meet IH standards and you can't ask
for better families in all of Spain. Valladolid is the largest city that still runs on a siesta
schedule. Go home, have a glass of wine, eat a big meal with the family and then take a little nap
before going off to explore the city.
ACTIVITY PROGRAM
Informal activities are suggested by the teachers each day in class. Friday night and Saturday there
is always somewhere to go and someone to go with. Enjoy the famous Spanish nightlife and see the
most important tourist sights: Segovia, Burgos, Salamanca, Madrid. On Sunday mornings, all the
Museums in the city are free. A large bulletin-board is updated daily, showing all the current
events and activities in the city.
STUDENTS AND CLASSES
IH is the home of Quality Language Teachers. Study intensively and enjoyably in reduced groups with
highly qualified teachers and students from all over the world. Last year people from more than 25
countries came through the doors of IH Valladolid.
