Description:
| The African Studies Program at United States International University (USIU) in Nairobi, Kenya, is designed for undergraduate and graduate students interested in African history, culture, literature, sociology, economics, environmental studies, as well as intensive Swahili language training. Coursework is supplemented with field trips, community service and internships at local businesses, international organizations and humanitarian agencies. The program includes sightseeing, cultural excursions and a safari in Kenya. All courses and field trips are conducted in English.
Depending on course-load and internship involvement, students can earn up to 16 credit units per term towards their undergraduate or graduate degree. Transcripts are issued by the United States International University. This program is offered during the Fall and Spring semesters, Summer session, and Academic Year.
The United States International University is part of the Alliant International University system, which has campuses in the USA, Mexico and Kenya. USIU is dually accredited in the USA by the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC), and in Kenya by the Ministry of Education of Kenya. USIU faculty consists of academics, business professionals and diplomats who lived, studied and worked in countries throughout Africa and the world. The University is situated on 20-acre campus in Kasarani, 7 miles from the center of Nairobi. | |
