Description:
| The Temple University Japan (TUJ) study abroad program offers U.S. undergraduates the opportunity to study in
Tokyo for a semester, academic year, or summer alongside bilingual Japanese students. The academic program is comprised
of an extensive liberal arts curriculum which includes Japanese language instruction for both native and non-native speakers,
and upper level Asian Studies courses in Art History, Geography and Urban Studies, History, Political Science, Religion and
Sociology. With the exception of Japanese language courses, all courses are taught in English. Students apply for internships
before arriving in Japan and go through an interviewing and selection process once they have arrived. Internships are
performed in conjuction with coursework and are credit bearing.
Temple University Japan is located in the Minami Azabu district in central Tokyo. TUJ occupies eight floors of a
modern office building; the facilities include classrooms, the library, computer labs with Internet access, a writing center, an
audio/visual center, a language lab, faculty offices, and a student lounge. The campus is within easy reach of a number of
interesting Tokyo neighborhoods, including Shibuya, an entertainment area popular amoung young adults, and Roppongi, the
famous nightlife district. The Imperial Palace, where the Emperor resides, the Diet Building, and the shopping districts of Ginza
and Shinjuku are all less than three miles from TUJ. | |
