Description: This program, available for academic year, fall or spring semester, fall quarter, is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors with a 2.5 minimum GPA. No previous French study required. Most courses are taken in the program for foreign students at the Sorbonne. Advanced level students may enroll in regular Sorbonne lecture courses for foreigners. Advanced courses for students specializing in international commerce or economics available from the Sorbonne/Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris. Two week language preparation and orientation at the Collège International de Cannes (30 hours of intensive language study, equivalent to two credits. Transcript from the Collège) on the French Riviera. Transcripts issued by the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne as well as the Académie de Port Royal, American University of Paris, British Institute in Paris, Goethe Institute, Institut Supérieur Européen de la Mode and Schola Cantorum. Student visa required. Must be obtained before departing U.S. Students have a choice of housing in either a residence hall (for full year females only) or in a Parisian home, both with daily breakfast. Optional meal plans are available. Cultural activities include visits to museums and monuments, wine tastings and theater and ballet performances as well as weekend trips to Normandy and Mont St. Michel, and to the Loire Valley spring semester. AIFS program fees are $11, 145 per quarter, $11,795 per semester or $22,190 for an academic year and include tuition, housing and breakfast, free outbound flight, cultural activities, three day London stopover before the program begins, services of an on-site Resident Director and services of a pre-departure Student Advisory Center. Application deadlines are May 15 for academic year, fall quarter or semester; November 1 for spring semester. Scholarships are available.
