Description: Available for academic year, fall or spring semester, the program is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors with a 2.5 minimum GPA. No previous Italian study required. Three weeks Italian language preparation and orientation at the University of Pisa in Viareggio for fall semester and the Università per Stranieri di Siena for spring semester. Internships and independent study are available. Small classes for studio art students to develop skills in drawing, painting and photography. Transcripts issued by Richmond, The American International University in London. Transfer of credits easily arranged through Richmond, a U.S.-accredited university. Student visa must be obtained from an Italian consulate before departure from the U.S. Students live in an Italian household or in student apartments with restaurant vouchers for five breakfasts and five lunches or dinners per week. Cultural activities include visits to museums, art galleries, churches and theaters. AIFS program fees are $11,995 per semester or $22,190 for an academic year and include tuition, housing and meals, free outbound flight, cultural activities, two day London stopover before the program begins, services of an on-site Resident Director, field trips to Rome, Venice and Ravenna and services of a pre-departure Student Advisory Center. Application deadlines are May 15 for academic year or fall semester; November 1 for spring semester. Scholarships are available.
