Description:
| Come to "Zlata Praha" (Golden Prague) for one semester or year! UPCES is a joint program of two departments of Charles University; CERGE and the Faculty of Humanities. We offer undergraduates a top quality educational experience with prominent Czech scholars teaching courses focused on Central Europe. All courses are taught in English and include: Transition Economics, Cultural Studies, Sociology, History, Literature, Political Science, Archeology, Philosophy, Gender Studies, Czech Language, Independent Study and more. All courses are taken with Czech students from Charles University to promote cultural immersion. In addition, UPCES participants have access to great facilities, including CERGE-EI's sophisticated computer lab and an excellent resource library.
CERGE-EI is located in central Prague, five minutes walk from Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske namesti). Courses will be taken in CERGE-EI's beautifully renovated lecture halls and between classes, students can visit Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti), only ten minutes walk for a short break in one of the many outdoor cafes.
Housing is also located within central Prague in a pension hotel, only 10 minutes from CERGE-EI via tram. Typically, two students will share a room and four students will share bathroom/kitchen facilities. Breakfast is served daily.
Social activities are plentiful in Prague. Cultural activities range anywhere from museums, festivals, concerts of rock, jazz or classical music, theater, opera, to multi-ethnic musical jams in the streets. UPCES will have several excursions within Prague and to cultural/historical towns within the Czech Republic each semester. There is also an overnight trip to one of Czech Republic's neighboring countries.
Act now: application deadlines are approaching! November 15th is the deadline for the spring semester and May 15th is the deadline for the fall semester. To apply, please visit our web-site where you may find a downloadable application form.
We look forward to greeting you in Prague! | |
