Description:
| Experience the ever-changing and ever-growing kaleidoscope that is India. The ancient civilization throbs with energy and life.
Learn about the country first-hand through this sixteen-day intersession program. Dr. Ashok Malhotra will guide you through a multi-disciplinary perspective, featuring excursions to places of historical, religious, and artistic significance.
Participants may register for college credit (at an extra charge) or join the group on a non-credit basis.
An orientation program for all participants will be held on the SUNY Oneonta campus on November 2-3. Overnight housing is available at the Morris Conference Center at a modest cost. In the village of Dundlod, you will have opportunities to take part in several service- learning projects, such as tutoring children in the English language and helping with the construction and expansion of the Indo-International School.
Through Learn and Serve in India 2002, you can continue the tradition of service established by the SUNY Oneonta Semester in India program in 1996. Participants founded the Indo-International School, which provides educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
Participants in this year's program will help construct a new building for the high school, teach classes, and work in the library and playground, continuing the legacy and commitment of the SUNY Oneonta community to serving others.
