Description: A Workshop July 1-August 9 H30.1100/H30.2100. Staff. 8 points. H30.1100 for undergraduates; H30.2100 for graduates. China boasts one of the oldest dance histories in the world. Within the context of Chinese dance, we not only experience the country's artistic legacy but also the history of China as it is interpreted within various dance contexts from the Beijing Opera dances to dances belonging to the provinces. Beijing represents the city where 5,000 years of history meets the modern international arts scene. Based at the Beijing Academy, in one of the world's largest metropolises, students participate in daily dance workshops designed to introduce students to the rich traditions and broad spectrum of Chinese dance and its modern adaptation in the contemporary arts scene.
