Description:
| This three-week Multilingual Multicultural Studies (TESOL/Bilingual Education/Foreign Language Education), and International Education 2002 study abroad program offers educators an opportunity to examine the intercultural perspectives in multilingual multicultural education in China and to explore the teaching of language, particularly English and Chinese, across all school levels. The program is designed for graduate students, teachers, and curriculum specialists in TESOL, bilingual education, foreign language education, English education, and international education. The focus for the NYU-Shanghai summer program is "teaching and learning in the East and the West."
Students spend three weeks in Shanghai. Teaching and learning activities include classes and seminars taught by NYU faculty members and lectures by faculty members from other higher education institutions such as Shanghai Teachers University, Fudan University, and Chinese University of Hong Kong. Participants are able to attend selected sessions at the national summer institute for college English teachers sponsored by Shanghai International Studies University. Students will also have the opportunity to visit local colleges, and public and private schools in Shanghai. Students interested in doing an internship have a chance to teach summer school in Shanghai. | |
