Description:
| This program is specifically designed to integrate American undergraduate students into British art schools. With the assistance of our faculty and the British institutions, students are directly enrolled with British students in regular university art and design coursework. Our students have the advantage of being evaluated by their British tutors as well as the program's London-based British Coordinator, whose experience in both British and U.S. Art institutions is crucial in determining course equivalencies and grades.
Unlike most American art courses, British art education is self-directed. Independent motivation and work habits are essential. Written course descriptions--typical in American institutions--are rarely available from British art schools. The focus of the program is on in-studio participation. Although there are some "related studies" course opportunities (e.g. Art History & Criticism), students spend the majority of their time in studio-based creative pursuits.
Our students find our program to be a truly British experience. Past students have competed in (and won!) university wide Art & Design competitions in their host institutions, have played on the University basketball and soccer teams, have been involved in student leadership on their campus and have truly enjoyed an integrated experience with British culture. | |
