Description:
| Spend six weeks studying Spanish language and Chilean culture at the Catholic University of Valparaiso. The program includes trips to local points of interest, day excursions to Isla Negra (Pablo Neruda’s Oceanside home) and a traditional fishing village in Horcon, and a weekend excursion to the beaches and museums of La Serena. Valparaiso, located 70 miles from Santiago, is the cultural and legislative capital, and the main commercial harbor of Chile. A few miles north lies Vina del Mar, Valparaiso’s sister city and Chile’s premier beach resort.
Advanced level students will take two of three courses (Spanish language & Chilean culture, contemporary Chilean literature, social and & political issues in modern Chile). Four semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent.
Intermediate & Beginner level students will take Spanish grammar, Spanish conversation, and Chilean culture. Intermediate – 2 semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent. Beginner – no requirement.
Combine your summer abroad with a semester or academic year program and earn credit towards your degree. ISEP offers exchanges and programs in 33 countries (including 6 other Spanish speaking countries). Study in a different language or take classes taught in English.
