Description:
| Mary Immaculate specializes in teacher education and offers a B.A. in Liberal Arts, a B.Ed. (3 year Bachelor of Education Degree), and post-graduate degrees in Education and the Humanities.
Founded in 1898 by the Bishop of Limerick and the Sisters of Mercy, Mary Immaculate opened its doors in 1901 to 75 women. In 1969, co-education began; in 1974, Mary Immaculate became a Recognized College of the National University of Ireland; and in 1991, the College and the University of Limerick established a linkage.
Mary Immaculate's lovely campus blends its historic and well maintained buildings with new construction. Its 1200 students have easy access to a library; auditorium; gymnasium; educational laboratory; art and craft, music, and oral language and drama studios; an educational resource center; a closed circuit television studio; a campus radio station; language laboratories; a computer center; and a student union which houses the college restaurant. There are over sixteen clubs and societies.
Accommodations are in modern hostels adjacent to the campus. Students can select single, double and dormitory bedrooms. Home placements are also offered.
Students can easily walk to the city center, but public transportation is also available.
