| Scotland's third oldest institution dates back to two colleges. In 1495 the Bishop of Aberdeen created King's College and modeled it after those in Paris and Bologna. Faculties of Arts, Theology and Canon and Civil Law were established as was a 'chair' of medicine two years later.
