Description: The Science, Math, and Engineering Research Abroad Program at the Puschino Science Center (part of the world-reknowned Russian Academy of Science) is designed for students interested in science, medicine, math, engineering, and technology. The curriculum includes laboratory research, weekly seminars, workshops on journal publication, sightseeing trips and cultural excursions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Serpukhov. Students earn 9 college credits. Knowledge of Russian is NOT necessary, since the entire program is conducted in English. The town of Puschino is 75 miles south of Moscow, and is a community of 25,000 people with 1/5 of them working as scientists at the Center. [RESEARCH] The Puschino Science Center, Russian Academy of Science, is Russia's premier research facility -- consisting of 9 institutes with hundreds of laboratories and departments. The Center provides research opportunities in biomedicine, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, environmental science, soil science, analytic chemistry, applied mathematics, physics, astronomy, radio-astronomy, biophysics, biochemistry, permafrost and many, many more fields of science. The program places a strong emphasis on preparing students for the Intel Science Talent Search, other science contests and journal publication. [SUCCESS] 15 past KEI students have been published in science journals in the USA, Canada and Europe. Over 30% of our high school and pre-college students advanced to the semifinal round of the Science Talent Search, 5% became finalists, over 40% advanced to regional finals of the International Science and Engineering Fair and Siemens-Westinghouse competition, and do equally well in other contests. [EXCURSIONS] The program includes sightseeing and cultural excursions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novgorod. These three cities hold special historical, cultural and architectural significance and share the honor of serving as Russia's capital at some point in its history. [TUITION] Summer program tuition is $5,305. Tuition includes all academic and research fees, housing in the Hotel Puschino, On-Site staff, mobile phone, medical coverage, and excursions in Russia.
