Description:
| ELTAP participants share their knowledge of English with teachers of English and students three to four class sessions each school day in exchange for the opportunity to live in a national and cultural setting that is different from their own.
ELTAP assistants are assigned to a school, in one of several countries around the world, to help teachers and students improve their oral communication skills in English.
ELTAP assistants are supported in their work by ELTAP faculty who live in or near the host country through on-site visits and/or by remaining in close contact through e-mail.
The ELTAP program is open to adults of any age who are fluent in English. Participants represent many different backgrounds and fields of study and/or interest.
Participants are responsible for travel arrangements and expenses. Host schools provide room and board for ELTAP assistants during their placement.
ELTAP assistants can receive undergraduate or graduate college credit toward their degree program or a certificate through a non-degree option. The application ($300.00) and tuition ($2,219.40) fees are the same for all three options (total $2,519.40).
The University of Minnesota requires all participants to have insurance coverage under a Cultural Insurance Services International company policy. This insurance policy covers medical expenses, emergency family reunion, accidental death and dismemberment and emergency medical transportation. Cost of the insurance is an additional $27.00 per month.
