Description:
| The region of Asturias in the north of Spain is the setting for this program’s first two weeks of study. In previous programs the students have stayed in a seaside resort in the delightful fishing village of Candas, the heart of one of the most scenic and verdant areas of the country. On other occasions, students have participated in Spanish life while living at the University of Oviedo, in the capital city of Asturias. Upon completion of first two weeks, you’ll move on to Seville, a lovely city in the southern region of Andalucia. Spanish language courses and classes on Spanish culture highlight the curriculum.
Undergraduates and graduate students are required to take six credits.
The program is designed to provide the opportunity for undergraduate students to complete their language requirements and sharpen their linguistic skills. Graduate courses are applicable to the MAT and M.S. Spanish programs. Foreign language teachers seeking second certification in Spanish can complete six credits.
Program includes various field trips to Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, Oviedo, (see also the New Paltz Oviedo, Seville study abroad program) Santillana del Mar, Covadonga and Picos de Europa. In Andalucia a field trip to La Rabida, Moguer and Cordoba will be included. Field trips and group activities are an integral part of the study abroad program.
