Description: SUNY Oswego in Czech Republic: Masaryk University was built on the understanding that higher education needs to change and adapt to the needs of society. In the spirit of its founder, the university seeks to foster qualities of leadership and excellence among students in all the disciplines - emphasizing a sold grasp of fundamental principles and a sense of ethics. The Oswego State University - Masaryk University study abroad program is two different programs in one. The TESOL Teacher Education program is an exciting cross-cultural teacher training program which will involve native English speakers, native Czech speakers, and other non-native English speaking students from other parts of the world. Students will study, teach, and work together through out the semester and receive certification in TESOL. The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) is an internationally recognized TESOL certification from Cambridge University. This program is designed to give future English teachers the tools necessary to work effectively in this global environment, and provide additional career opportunities to those in the field of education. In addition, the Central European Studies Program is designed for students who want a challenging educational experience in the heart of Europe, and who want to develop a global perspective. Courses include studies of the social, economic, political, and cultural transformations that have shaped Central Europe at the end of the 20th Century. Courses are taught in English. Internships with Czech and international non-governmental organizations, businesses, and public institutions are a key aspect of the program.
