With almost 500 years of history, the University of Granada has increased its influence on the social and cultural environment to become one of the major intellectual centers of Spain. Since 1983, the University of Granada has grown more than ever before, gaining recognition as an institution based on research, teaching, and highly-specialized studies. In fact, the University has over 65,000 registered students, including 5,600 foreigners. The University of Granada is particularly proud of its Centro de Lenguas Modernas - The Center for Modern Languages (CLM). Founded in 1992, the CLM consists of two sections: Spanish for Foreigners and Foreign Languages. This division gives the CLM the unique characteristic of being the only center within Spain of this nature, where foreign students share the same premises as Spanish students that are interested in other languages and cultures.
