Description:
| The Student Teaching program at the University of North London (UNL) has been run by SUNY Cortland since 1994. Oswego State University joined the collaboration in August 2000. Students participating on this program will do their teacher training in London public elementary schools. The University of North London is part of a system of public universities offering a wide range of courses. Currently, more than 10,000 students are pursuing degrees in areas ranging from business and education to sports science and public policy. The Student Teaching program at The University of North London begins in late March and lasts until mid-June. A week after the termination of the first student teaching session in the US, the group will travel to London for a week of orientation and settling into apartments that have been arranged prior to their arrival. This will be followed by five weeks of intensive classes: The British Education System and Education Senior Seminar. The former course will be taught by staff at UNL while the latter will be taught by an accompanying SUNY Cortland faculty member. Students then commence a six-week teaching experience in a London elementary school. The student teaching experience will be jointly supervised by UNL and SUNY Cortland faculty.
