Description:
| SUNY program in Paris through MICEFA: This is a direct-enrollment program in one of 15 different Paris universities, managed by SUNY and MICEFA (La Mission Interuniversitaire de Coordination des Echanges Franco-Americains). Students enrolled in MICEFA will study at one of the 15 member campuses in Paris, along with French and other international students. Students with any major may participate in the program, because MICEFA offers such a rich opportunity for students to study a variety of fields, from Anthropology to Linguistics, from Psychology to Zoology. French language majors will find a large selection of language and literature courses available to them as well.
The program is open to students with an intermediate to advanced level of French. There is some flexibility for SUNY students in terms of their language preparation, because several MICEFA universities offer the possibility of studying French as a foreign language while taking a partial program of content-area courses in French at the French member universities.
Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in the program. We especially encourage applications from students in the sciences, who often think that there are few programs for them.
Students need to be reasonably independent. MICEFA provides advisement about housing options and personal assistance to students in getting settled, as well as the academic placement, so our students will not be completely on their own. There is a MICEFA office in Paris where the on-site director and her staff work, and which is the headquarters for the program.
