Description:
| The Orvieto program is designed for students marked by intellectual curiosity with a keen interest in history; who think about art as well as practice it; who are attentive to their spiritual life and for whom questions of church history and theology are of lively concern; who are sufficiently extroverted socially to venture out into a foreign culture and community; who are compassionate and humble enough to tend to the needs of our own small community in the convent of San Lodovico; who are self-motivated; who are emotionally and behaviorally balanced and sensible; who are non-complainers and willing to pitch in for the good of the group and the convent; who will be good ambassadors for Christ, for Gordon College (and the other schools represented), and, yes, for America.
The Gordon semester in Orvieto, Italy is an arts-oriented program with credit in Italian language, an interdisciplinary course in the cultural history of the Italian Renaissance and two courses in studio arts or art theory and history. Students and faculty are lodged in a convent in Orvieto, an ancient hill town located between Rome and Florence. | |
