Description:
| Sydney is the largest and oldest city in Australia, with a population of four million people and some kangaroos and koalas too. During your semester comprised of courses, an internship, and field trips, you will become part of the energy and excitement of this capital city. On your visit to Auckland, you will see New Zealand's most populous city. You will also enjoy the picturesque natural beauty, striking volcanic hills, twin harbors, bays, beaches, and islands of this remarkable region.
Australia and New Zealand both have a parliamentary political system, influential indigenous cultures, a world-famous film industry, a deep concern for the environment, and a natural economic affiliation with many of the countries that make up the Asia-Pacific arena. The program curriculum centers around the region's cultural identity.
As a Semester in Australia and New Zealand student, you will earn a full semester of American University undergraduate credit. These credits are transferable to most colleges and universities. Following are courses offered in the program: Australia in the Asia-Pacific Economy (3 credit hours), Media in Australia (3 credit hours), Australia and the Environment (3 credit hours), Aboriginal Australian History and Culture (3 credit hours), Australia and International Politics (3 credit hours), Internship (4 credit hours), or an Independent Study.
