The European Union (EU), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and hundreds of other international and private organizations call this cosmopolitan city home. Now, through American University's European Union Semester in Brussels, you can earn undergraduate credit and gain valuable work experience in the political center of the EU. Theory combines with practical experience during your study in Brussels. In your internship and unique seminar classes, you frequently meet with and talk to practitioners and policymakers from the EU, NATO, and the international community of Brussels. These leaders share with you their insider perspectives on how the EU is shaping Europe politically and economically. When you live in Brussels, you can take advantage of its central location. Enjoy swift and easy travel to other countries in Europe: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the North Sea are only an hour and a half away, or less, by train. You can earn a full semester of American University (AU) undergraduate credit during the Brussels program. These credits are transferable to most colleges or universities. The following courses are offered in the Brussels semester: European Union Seminar I: The Government and Politics of the European Union (4 credit hours), European Union Seminar II: The Political Economics of the EU (4 credit hours), European Security and Defense Economics (4 credit hours), Brussels Semester Internship (4 credit hours), and Living in French (1 credit hour).
