Description:
| Imagine the excitement today in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, the eighth largest country in the world. After more than half a century of military rule, Argentines are thriving under a democratic government. Now, through the World Capitals Program at American University (AU), you can be among a group of select students to study Argentina's bold political reforms, while you earn full college credit and gain international work experience.
Enjoy innovative, interdisciplinary course work integrating Argentina's history, politics, economics, and culture to give you a full appreciation of the factors leading to its vote for democratic rule. And you do all this in Buenos Aires, center of the largest Spanish-speaking country in South America and seat of its young democratic government.
You can earn a full semester of AU credit during the Buenos Aires program. These credits are transferable to most colleges and universities. The following courses are offered in the semester in Buenos Aires (all courses are taught in Spanish): Survey of Social and Economic Evolution in Argentina, Contemporary Ideas in Argentina, Argentinean and Hispano-American Literature in the 20th, Intensive Spanish Language, Latin America in the 20th Century, Internship, History of Argentinean Political Parties, Economic History of Argentina, Argentinean and Hispano-American Literature: XVII century to XIX century, Contemporary Argentinean Art, Tradition and Culture in Argentina, Argentina: Open Society, The Economy During Latin American Integration, Argentina's Economic Policy, and Ecology and Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment.
