Description:
| Classes begin in early April after a brief orientation session in Tokyo. Oregon students are entitled to enroll in any course offered at the University; however, only courses offered through the SIPEB are taught in English. Courses offered through the SIPEB focus primarily on business, politics, and economics. Only students proficient in Japanese will be permitted to take courses outside the SIPEB. Japanese language instruction will be provided for Oregon students at three levels. A placement test will be given at the beginning of the year to determine class level.
Students participating in the AGU exchange program will be registered at their home campus in the Oregon University System and will receive credit from that institution. (University of Oregon students must register through another OUS institution.)
Equivalent course numbers have been determined by each OUS institution for many of the courses available through SIPEB and are available from the Campus Contact at your college or university. Each participant should consult with his or her academic advisor to determine how AGU course work will integrate into the home campus curriculum requirements.
The method of teaching at AGU differs substantially from courses offered in Oregon. SIPEB classes normally meet once each week beginning in April and continue through the following February. A typical academic load includes Japanese language at the appropriate level and seven other courses.
