Description:
| Students will examine how the Irish have expressed a sense of their identity through their literature. Students will explore Irish literature from the early Christian texts to modern writers. Historical seminars will examine Irish history from the early Christian era to the collapse of Gaelic Ireland in the seventeenth century. Early Christian Ireland, Celtic art, and the province of Munster's unique historical and literary heritage will be of particular focus. Students will take classes and reside at University College, Cork. This course will include morning lectures, afternoon seminars, a series of related field trips, cultural events, and traditional Irish music nights. | |
